compensation: $14 + tips
employment type: part-time

Almond Butterfly Cafe & Bakeshop (in the Annex, near U of T), is currently seeking a Barista(s) to join our team!

This is a dynamic & exciting position, with the opportunity to work with a great team, and a friendly customer base.
Duties include behind-the-counter service (serving baked goods, cupcakes, bagels, coffee, etc), as well as crafting high-quality artisanal espresso beverages (with latte art).

Part-time positions (20-25 hours/week, 3-4 shifts) available.
FULL-TIME position (35-40 hrs/wk, 5 shifts) available for the right candidate.
We are looking for Daytime and Evening Baristas to be available within the following times:
Mon-Fri 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM
Saturday 8:30 AM - 6:30 PM
Sunday 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM
** Please indicate in your job application exactly which days/times you are available to work.

Students are welcome to apply, IF your availability works, and you are able to work at least 20 hours per week (including through exams).

Please note: we do not grant any new time-off requests through your probationary 3-month period.

Who are we looking for?
You are a positive, energetic person with a pleasant demeanor.
You enjoy interacting with customers and co-workers, and are a good communicator.
You are responsible, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
You are a health-minded individual, familiar with gluten free, vegan, and organic foods.
You are accustomed to working hard, and know how to get the job done!
You work well alone, or in a team environment.

Previous experience working in a cafe, or equivalent experience in the food and beverage industry, is considered an asset.
Previous experience operating a manual espresso machine, creating microfoam, and dialing a grinder is definitely an asset, but not required.
The ability to create latte art is definitely an asset (feel free to send us photos of your work!), but not required.
We are willing to train the right candidate(s), who demonstrate a positive, enthusiastic attitude!

Our evening Baristas lock up the shop, so a valid Food Handlers Certificate is definitely an asset in your favor (The City of Toronto requires a certified Food Handler to be on-site at all times). Our keyholders are required to have it.

Please contact us via email to be considered for an interview.
*** Please provide a resume, and introductory note.
*** Please clearly indicate your AVAILABILITY.

  • Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job poster.
