Researchers at Ryerson University are looking for volunteers to participate in a study investigating the effects of music on language perception and production. Participants will be asked to perform a language task during the testing session, and may or may not be exposed to music. Following that, participants will be asked to answer some questions about their demographics (age, ethnicity, etc.), their emotional state, personality, and attitudes. Participants will be fitted with a physiological monitor (non-invasive electrodes will be placed on the skin) for continuous measurement of cardiovascular activity during the testing session. Salivary samples will be collected at pre-determined time intervals during the study for later analyses of biomarkers of interest.
The study contains a single session (approximately 2-2.5 hours) and you will be reimbursed with $30. We are looking for volunteers between 60-80 years of age who are generally in good health. Potential participants will be screened over the phone prior to the session in order to determine eligibility.
If you are interested in participating, please email this posting with your phone number so a researcher can contact you and give you more information. Please indicate "MAL Study Participation" in the subject line.
